8 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

Confidence is a trait that can help you not only in your personal life, but immensely in your professional career as well.  Experiencing a few bumps in the road helps build character, helps you deal with confrontation, and will help you learn from mistakes.

However, even the most seemingly confident people could appreciate a few tips and Entrepreneur has listed a few to help increase your self-esteem.

1. Assess Yourself

Ask yourself the question, what are your strengths and weaknesses? Taking an honest look at yourself will give you a better perspective on the direction you need to take to increase your confidence. Who is a better judge than yourself?

2. Know Your Limits

People ask for favors all the time.  It’s not always easy to step back and refuse. Saying “no” means that you are taking control of the situation and have enough self-esteem to either accept or reject situations that come your way. Stress could lead to a burnout, which can negatively impact the confidence you have in yourself.

3. Good Relationship with the Boss

It’s no surprise that a large part of our self-confidence comes from the professional realm. It’s extremely important to maintain a positive relationship with your boss since this will ultimately impact the future of your career.

4. Small Victories

A series of small victories can help increase your morale and boost your confidence with little effort. It’s great to have large goals in mind for the long term, but realistically, small victories are more attainable on the day-to-day basis. Made it to the gym this week? Small victory! Organized a little company get together? Small victory! Celebrate these as much as possible.

5. Find a Mentor

It can be useful to speak to someone that has enough life experience to help guide you in the right direction. This will help equip you with the right tools to tackle any challenges and boost your confidence for the journey ahead.

6. Be Assertive

Assert yourself with others both in your professional and private life.  However, assertiveness does not mean aggressiveness.
